Promoters comments on Ashley-Reid
By Arnie "Tokyo" Rosenthal
Boxing Promoter
April 5, 2005

(APR 5)  WBAN has received an open letter from boxing Promoter Arnie "Tokyo" Rosenthal who comments on the other responses of Team Reid and Team Ashley.

Rosenthal said the following:

First let me thank both fighters for a terrific performance. That being said, while we weren't looking for a non-competitive match up in either direction, the "script" was far different than we anticipated. While we under rated Alicia's experience and skill level, we didn't under rate Elena's heart which was huge. That bout as well as the rest of the card thrilled the fans, and Harrah's Laughlin signed to bring back "AROTO" on October 8th before the arena had emptied.

Alicia showed style I hadn't seen since Pernell Whitaker retired. And that style would give anyone fits at any weight. Elena never quit trying to figure her out and except for the cut would have been there at the end. No doubt it was a great learning experience for her both in the ring and out.

Anyone with 20 straight fights without a loss owes
no explanations to anyone. Nor are any excuses required.  As Chris Ben said, Alicia came in at 116 as did Elena. Its my challenge to match her at a lighter weight and I'm up for that. Both are great fighters and will win world titles soon given the opportunity.

So, finally I'd like to say on behalf of "A Ring Of Their Own" that we will have both fighters back very soon and than perhaps both fighting for world titles on our upcoming PPV show in November. The support of the women's boxing community has been overwhelming to say the least and we look forward to delivering many more nights like our first two programs. Peace, Arnie "Tokyo" Rosenthal
