All Women's Card in Edmonton
by Rick McLean
May 8, 2005

(MAY 08) On June 18, 2005 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, there will be an all women's boxing card at the Shaw Convention Centre. The promoters of the event are Glen Carriere of KO Boxing and Gerry Gilroy of Independent Jewelers and they are teaming with the California's Rock and Sock Productions. This is the first all women's boxing card in Canadian history and it will be covered in Canada and on pay per view as well as several satellite superstations in the U.S. The card looks like this thus far:

1. Jelena Mrdjenovich (Edmonton) (11-1, 7 KO's) vs. TBA.

2. Amy Johnson (Edmonton) (4-0-1,1KO) vs. Olga "The Hurricane" Heron (Toronto) (3-5,1KO).

3. Lisa "Bad News" Brown (Toronto) (10-1,4KO's) vs. Kelli Cofer (Willard Ohio) (10-2-4, 3KO's).

4. Donna Logue (Edmonton) (0-0-1) vs. Aasa Sandell (Sweden) (2-0-1,1KO).

It is important to note that Amy Johnson was given the dubious honour by WBAN of having the dirtiest match last year against Tonya Harding.

Don’t let Olga Heron's record fool you--she is much better than her record might indicate. She has fought very tough opponents such as Lisa Brown (World Champion) and Mrdjenovich (twice) in the past. This may be the hottest match on the card!
