(OCT 29) Kathy
Rivers was set to fight Valerie Mahfood in Pompano Beach,
Florida, for the WIBF world light-heavyweight title on November 5th.
But the card has been postponed until November 19th.
In a press release that WBAN received today the following was reported::
"BATTLE AT THE BEACH IV" has been postponed until November 19th, due
to suffering a left hook from Hurricane Wilma. The fighters were
ready to go, Julio Cesar Chavez had Azteca television all set, the venue
was finalizing a few repairs since Wilma, the power is beginning to come
back on in South Florida, the fans are beginning to call in, but the
Boxing Commission couldn't find enough officials to accommodate the
event. Another two weeks will allow everyone to be better prepared
after such a devastating event we've all been through. The fighters
will be in better shape, power will be back on throughout the state,
officials will have their lives back to normal, and ticket sells will be
greater. On behalf of Elite Promotions I want to thank each of you for
your patience and support throughout this hurricane season. |
