(DEC 16) If you have seen the boxing Movie Cinderella Man, your in store
for another boxing story involving Colorado’s First Female World
Champion Terri “Lil Loca” Cruz.
When you look deep in those green eyes of Latina World Champion Boxer
Terri Cruz, you’d never be able to see the struggles and barriers that
this 34 year old single mother of three has overcome to fulfill a dream
come true. A real Cinderella Story without Prince Charming.
Terri recently won the World International Female Boxers Association
bantamweight title by a unanimous decision in a bout against contender
Heather Percival of California on Oct. 29th in Ignacio, Colorado.
Terri, works part-time at a health care center, and takes care of her 3
children and finds the time to train at least two hours a day including
her daily run. Days began daily at 6 am and end at 9 pm daily, which
include all household duties, fixing meals, laundry, etc. up to dropping
off children at school and picking them up as well.
Even with all these challenges of in front of her on a daily basis Terri
strongly believes that through the powers and her belief in God, she can
overcome all the obstacles and trials in her life. To become a better
person in her life and be a positive role model for young women and the
single mothers out there.
Simply put in Terri own words, “No matter what you go through in life,
don’t let anyone stop you from accomplishing your goals and dreams, life
will always have it’s up and downs, you just have to stay strong and
overcome them, I would have even fought for this belt for free,
opportunities don’t always come, you have to go for it!”
Terri’s plans for the future are to win another World Title at a lower
weight class and also defend her new title. Sounds a little crazy and
unheard of? According to Terri the clock has never hit midnight in her
eyes.
