(FEB 18) On February 16th, at the Harrah’s, in Kansas City, Missouri, there was a night of action in women’s boxing. In the main event, Hollie Dunaway won a 10-round unanimous decision over Melissa Shaffer. When the winner was announced, there was some confusion, when the ring announcer, said that their was a “new WIBA World Minimumweight champion.”

Shaffer briefly celebrated the announcement, thinking that she had won the title. Dunaway and the ref looked puzzled. Before announcing the name of the winner, the ring announcement was corrected to say that Dunaway was actually STILL the WIBA Minimumweight champion, then announced Hollie Dunaway as the winner.

In other action-filled bouts, Super-featherweights Kelli Cofer of Ohio won a six-round unanimous decision over Liz Drew.
