11) Today the weigh-in was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in preparation
for tomorrow night’s event at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. In a
women’s bout, Monica Lovato, 6-1-0 (3KO), of New Mexico, will
face Sharon Gaines, 9-6-0 (3KO), in a rematch.
Lovato and Gaines
fought each other on April 1, 2006, at the Sky Ute Casino, in
Ignacio, Colorado, that results in a close split decision in favor
of Lovato. Lovato weighed in at 117, and Gaines 116.5.
Also present at the
weigh-in was Christina Kwan, who is not only related to
figure skater Michelle Kwan, but is also a boxer! She is set
to make her pro debut on June 3rd, at the Thomas and Mack
Center in Las Vegas, on a Showtime Card. Kwan has done her
homework in the amateurs, and is now prepared to go pro.
