Klinefelter Wins at PAL Boxing Championships
Source: Press Release
October 11, 2006

Oxnard, California – Iowa City’s Emily Klinefelter has just won the 119 pound division at the National Police Athletic League (PAL) boxing championships. She defeated California’s Teresa O’Toole (a former 125 pound PAL champion and outstanding boxer at the 2004 tournament), Texas’ Kayla Combs (a former Ringside 125 pound junior champion), and New York’s Christina Cruz.

Despite her aggressive style, Klinefelter’s opponents were only able to score on her 10 times total in three bouts, an average of 3.33 times per bout. Klinefelter has now won the PAL four years in a row. Also, with this tournament win, Emily has won all three national rankings tournaments this
year (U.S. Championships, Golden Gloves, PAL), in addition to winning a gold medal at the Pan Am Games. She has won the last six national tournaments in which she has participated (13 total in her career) and is currently ranked
#1 in the U.S. This year, WBAN (womenboxing.com) named Klinefelter pound for pound the best female boxer in the nation (regardless of weight division). Emily is still only 22 years old.

In addition, Klinefelter was named the tournament's outstanding female boxer.

Klinefelter is trained by Adam Pollack, a local criminal defense attorney and author of the recently published John L. Sullivan: The Career of the First Gloved Heavyweight Champion.
