Holm-Turton Final Press Conference
By
Andy Rivera
November 29, 2006

(NOV 29) Today at Isleta Casino, Fresquez Production held the final press conference before Friday's IFBA JR. Middleweight title fight between Holly Holm and Trica Turton. Both fighters looked relaxed and ready to go, in fact both were happy that weight isn't an issue. Holm has had most of her bouts at 140-147 pounds as Turton has as well. Both fighter look to come in less then the 154lb limit for the vacant crown.

Holm trainer Mike Winkeljohn said that it has been a challenge to get Holm to eat. "Holly hates food right now, laughed Winkeljohn, its funny when fighters have to lose weight they can't stop thinking about food, when there is no weight to gain they hate food." Also on the card is Jodi Esquibel fighting Crystal Cabadina, who Esquibel found out is her opponent just before she took the microphone.

Hector Munoz is also looking for an opponent, which should be filled tomorrow, Carlos Madrid pulled out due to a so-called ankle, but many insiders state it is due to him changing camps.

In other action Friday Taurus Sykes (24-3-1, 6 KOs) will go up against Denver's Patrick Smith (5-7-2, 4 KOs); El Paso's Alex Becerra (18-4, 8 KOs) battles Felix Flores (13-7-1, 11 KOs). In what may be the best match-up of the night Joe Gomez (9-1, 3 KOs) of Farmington takes on El Paso's Bobby Joe Valdez (9-3-1, 4 KOs) in a six-round welterweight bout; Flyweight Cesar Lopez (19-3, 4 KOs) . takes on Luis Doria (20-14-1, 13 KOs) of Miami, Fla.; El Paso's Evaristo Primero (14-9-1, 7 KOs) will take on Dominican Miguel Cabrera (15-8, 12 KOs). Tickets starting at $25 are available on Tickets.com or by calling the Isleta box office at 505-244-8191.
