(APR 13) Lawrence Hidaka, known for his
extensive knowledge and love for the “sweet science” of boxing,
Passed away Monday April 10th. Lawrence had been a primary
correspondent for lvboxing.com for about three years. He was also a
member of USA Boxing, serving as a volunteer judge, referee and
announcer for several years in the Las Vegas area.
He acquired his license from the Nevada
Athletic Commission in 2002 as a Licensed Ring Announcer and his
voice was heard over the PA system at several local events over the
past several years. The above photo was from one of Lawrence's
proudest moments, when he shared announcing duties with Michael
Buffer on a Top Rank card.
Funeral services will be held privately by his family. A memorial
service for his Las Vegas friends will be held on Friday April 20th
at the West Charleston Library from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. We will miss
him.
