(MAY 24) Last night in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and televised on ESPN2 “Wednesday Night Fights”. Holly Holm, 139, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Chevelle Hallback, 137½.  The two were fighting for the IFBA junior welterweight world title.  Final judges scores were 100-90, 100-90, and 98-92.

Also present at this event, was undefeated and multi-world champion Mary Jo Sanders.  Sanders spoke with commentators about a potential Sanders-Holm fight. This could easily be one of the big fights for women's boxing at this time.

Sanders was well-poised, with the ultimate of class that she brings to the sport, and she is a great representative, as Holm and Hallback are for women's boxing.  After the Holm-Hallback bout, Sanders and Holm spoke about fighting each other in the near future.

On the undercard, Clare de la Torre, 126½, won by TKO when her opponent Ashella Moody, 128, of Raleigh, North Carolina, did not come out for the second round.

The card was promoted by Fresquez Productions and Prize Fight Boxing.
