(JUN 5) Adelaida "Cobra" Ruiz of Lynwood, California won her first bout yesterday afternoon at the 2007 US. Nationals being held in Colorado Springs against Kayla Combs of Lubbock, Texas.  Ruiz, now 32-2, took control of the match early and was ahead by a score of 23-8 by the end of the third round. 

Ruiz went onto win the match against Combs by a final score after four rounds of 29-11, and stated she "felt a little tired" in her first match in over 1 1/2 years but also she "had enough" energy to finish.  Ruiz next faces #4-ranked Cristina Cruz of New York in the semi-finals of the 119lb. division tomorrow at the boxing venue at University of Colorado.
