(NOV 23) Jackie Nava was the centre of attention on Wednesday at the press conference for the Sosa-Leyva bill in the Beto Ávila baseball stadium in Boca del Río, Veracruz, on Saturday, at which she will be defending for the first time her interim WBC Super Bantamweight title. Asked why she never looks at her opponent's face when she's fighting, Nava said it was a hangover from her days as a kickboxer. "I've tried to shake the habit," she told reporters, "but with no success." Not that it matters: "I win my fights with punches – not dirty looks. In this sport, you don't intimidate anyone with your eyes."

Of Saturday's opponent, 28-year-old Lina Ramírez, she had only this to say: "I saw her once. She's tall, with long arms, and strong. She's fought Kelsey Jeffries and Jazmín Rivas twice each. She uses her reach well but I'm prepared for that. If I can, I'll knock her out. If not, I'll win on points."

One (each) of Ramírez's six victories and ten defeats have been by TKO. Her record also includes one KO in her favour and a draw.
