Women's action in Denmark
By Torben L. of Denmark
June 20, 2008

(JUNE 20) Anita Christensen (24-0-0) will be defending her GBU Bantamweight belt and attempt to win the vacant WBA title, when she faces Galina Ivanova (8-6-2) of Bulgaria on Saturday in Brøndbyhallen, Copenhagen. Christensen, who was stripped of the WBA title due to inactivity, is very pleased that WBA has given her the chance to regain the lost title.

While Christensen will be appearing in her 7th title fight (2 european and 5 world) the other Danish girl on the card, Vinni Skovgaard (6-0-0), will be fighting her second title bout. She won the WBC international Light Welterweight title in March, and will be up against German Cornelia Zimmer (9-2-1) for the vacant EBU title. Skovgaard won the European Amateur Championships in 2004 and 2006, and now has her eyes set on the European professional title. She has recently moved to Copenhagen to concentrate on her boxing career, in her ambition for even higher goals, i.e. a world title.
