(OCT 8)  For interested parties and supporters of Ladies Boxing in the UK, 16th November in Derby is the time and the place. The female card will include newly signed Suzanne Hemsley (light weight former ABA Champion) Sara Davies, Middleweight Kristine Shergold, Lightweight, and current British Masters Super flyweight Champion Juliette Winter.

The plan was to top the bill with a rematch between Shanee Martin, London and Winter, Derby for an English flyweight title, following the draw decision their previous 6 rounder was given at the end of 2007. The bout turned out to be something of a crowd pleaser and was voted 5th best bout of the year by Boxing News so its no wonder that there has been much demand for a rematch but despite the invitation Martin is saying no.

It would be interesting to hear why Martin doesn’t want to fight, her last bout on September 27, 2008, ended in controversy when misinformation surrounded the identity of her imported Romanian opponent, Elena Miftode.  With the opportunity to match good opponents on home ground why resort to the sometimes unreliable procedure of foreign imports?

[WBAN would ALSO like to hear from Shanee Martin.  Surely Martin can give some light as to her last fight that was a mismatch with a boxer who was not even the boxer that was reported to have fought her.  WBAN discovered that it was not Miflode, as to who she fought--but in what is now believed to be Roxana Tenea.  It would be nice to hear Martin's side of this last fight---and also why she has said no to the Winter bout.  Team Martin can contact us by email]
