(MAR 18) WBAN received a latest
update earlier today on junior bantamweight Michelle Gutierrez,
1-0-0, of Las Vegas. Michelle is now currently training with
Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, at LA Boxing in Henderson, Nevada.
Gutierrez fought in the amateurs
prior to turning pro, and she won her pro debut on August 16, 2007.
Gutierrez told WBAN, “I didn’t pursue
boxing after my pro debut, because I got the MMA bug and started to
train in Jui Jitsu, Muay Thai and wrestling/ground fighting. After a
year in a half of training and having a 2-0 record, I decided that
boxing was the sport I really loved.”
“I just got back in the boxing gym in March 2009 and now am
convinced that this is really what I want to pursue. When I decided
to return to boxing I followed my Uncle Jake's advice (Jake
Gutierrez is a ring announcer) and contacted Butch Gottlieb of
Infinity Boxing LLC. I can train now knowing I have a strong team
behind me,” added Gutierrez.
