Blackshear to fight McMorrow!
May 4, 2009

(MAY 4) It has been announced on Fight Night at the Tank that Jolene Blackshear, 4-2 (2KO), of San Diego, California, will be fighting Melissa McMorrow, 2-0, of San Jose, California, on May 7, 2009.

Jolene Blackshear, fought from 1997 to 2000. She makes her return to the ring after a very long layoff.

WBAN had the unique pleasure of meeting Blackshear when she was fighting, and spent some time with her and her trainer/manager in California.

This is good news indeed, and this fight should be a very good matchup! Blackshear's opponent, undefeated Melissa McMorrow, 2-0-0, is a talented boxer, newer on the scene, coming from the amateurs before turning pro.

After there was some confusion as to who McMorrow was going to fight, as another opponent's name had been mentioned, we contacted Blackshear, and she told WBAN the following:

"I just wanted to confirm that I will be fighting in San Jose on May 7 and am looking forward to returning to the ring. For the past several years, I have been happily training under my new coach and manager, Kalina Fernandez; and, I'm very excited to put my polished skills to the test. I have managed to maintain my conditioning and strength over the years and am very confident in my training."
