Maureen Shea to fight Lindsay Garbatt
July 24, 2009

(JULY 24) On August 1, 2009, Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing brings world championship boxing back to the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino in Uncasville, CT when Star Boxing's Delvin Rodriguez (24-2-2, 14KO) takes on Isaac Hlatshwayo (28-1-1, 10KO) for the vacant IBF Welterweight championship of the world. The bout between Rodriguez (IBF #2) and Hlatswhayo (IBF #3) will be a rematch of their highly entertaining draw that took place back in November of 2008.

Also on the card will be fan favorite, Maureen Shea (13-1, 7KO), the 28-year-old Shea is best known for serving as the lead sparring partner for actress Hillary Swank as Swank prepared for her role in the Academy Award winning movie Million Dollar Baby. Shea last fought in February of this year, losing in her first bid for a world championship. She looks to rebound from the loss and hopefully set herself up for another world title opportunity when she takes on Lindsay Garbatt (2-2, 2KO). The bout is scheduled for eight rounds in the super featherweight division.

Other bouts:

In the co-feature bout of the evening, 2007 amateur world champion, and 2008 U.S. Olympian, Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade (5-0, 4KO), looks to continue on his path to stardom when he meets veteran Chad Greenleaf (11-12-1, 5KO) in his first scheduled six round middleweight contest. Andrade, who is co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions, has been on an absolute tear since he first entered the pro ranks back in October of 2008. Look for Andrade to put on yet another impressive showing.

Undefeated middleweight contender, Norwalk, Connecticut's own "Marvelous" Tarvis Simms (24-0-1, 11KO) makes his anticipated Star Boxing return when he takes on an opponent TBA in an eight round middleweight contest. Simms was formally promoted by Star Boxing and now is back and hopes he can reach his goal of becoming middleweight champion of the world and feels Star Boxing and Joe DeGuardia is exactly the man to bring him there.

Star Boxing's young welterweight phenom, Raymond "Tito" Serrano (9-0, 5KO) will look to stay undefeated when he takes on Jessie Davis (11-13, 8KO) in a six round welterweight affair. The 20 year- old Serrano, recently spent time as one of the chief sparring partners for pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao as Pacquiao prepared for his mega fight with Ricky Hatton. Serrano was also recently featured in "The Ring" magazine as one of the new up and coming faces in the sport of boxing. Serrano looks to continue to improve and impress as he gradually works his way up the welterweight ladder.

Fresh of his second round destruction of the usually durable Andre Hemphill on July 16th, Star Boxing's light heavyweight sensation, Yathomas Riley (6-0, 4KO) will look to add yet another impressive victory to his resume when he takes on an opponent TBA. The bout is scheduled for six rounds in the light heavyweight division.

Rounding out the card will be North Carolina's entertaining Dominic DeSanto (2-1, 1KO) taking on Eliud Torres (2-1-1, 1KO) in a four round light welterweight contest.
