(FEB 6) LAS VEGAS - Five-Time World
Champion Jessica Rakoczy (31-3, 11 Kos) arguably one of the most
successful and talented boxer’s in the women’s lightweight division
over the past decade is moving down in weight in order to move back
up into big fights.
Rakoczy, the reigning NABF
Lightweight title holder has steadily been moving down in weight
in her previous three bouts. During her last match which took
place in July 2009 against Jessica Mohs, Rakoczy weighed in at
127 ¾ lbs. Jessica stopped Mohs in three rounds of their
scheduled six round bout.
Now as a seasoned veteran of the
sport, Rakoczy is eyeing opportunities to take on any and all
comers in the sport all the way down to WBC Super bantamweight
Champion, Marcela Eliana Acuna.
“I can make 122 lbs, as crazy as
that sounds but it’s true. I have always wanted to fight the
best women out there whatever weight class I was in. I will
definitely consider fights at 130 and 135, because I’m one of
the best and this sport needs the best to fight the best. But
I’ve fought and beaten virtually the whole division. I want
these other girls. So let’s do it, " said Rakoczy.
Other potential super fights
include a showdown with WBC Female featherweight champion, Ina
Menzer from Germany. Menzer, (26-0, 10 KOs) has been one
of the most dominant boxers of the past decade and a bout with
Rakoczy would provide fans with a true Mega fight in women’s
boxing.
“ I have so much respect for Ina
Menzer, Marcela Acuna, Jackie Nava all of the women who are at
the top..But I know I can beat them and I’m willing to fight on
their turf to prove it.”
“I’m ready to go. I want to fight the best. Just call Christian
and let’s make the fights that fans truly want to see happen a
reality. The sport deserves better than the same women being
sent overseas to fight the best those countries have to offer.
I’m here. I’m willing. Let’s make history.”
