(OCT 15) Today the weigh-in was
held for the All-Womens' Boxing card that will be taking place
tomorrow night at the Santa Ana Star Casino, in Bernariillo.
The event is also being Webcast/ Pay-Per-View for $12.99.
A percentage of proceeds of this event is going to the Susan G.
Komen Foundation. [I will have to post the weights tomorrow
morning]
There will be five women's bouts
that include the main event, between Melissa "The Huracan"
Hernandez vs. Lindsay Garbatt. The two are fighting for
the GBU, WIBA, and WBAN Junior lightweight world title
belt.
The weigh-in went very smoothly, and it was great meeting up
with all the women boxers, including a couple of amateur female
boxers that had come to the weigh-in with Lori Steinhorst, of
Bad Girls Boxing.
I video'd the weigh-in and
individually video'd the boxers and will have that up soon,
after I get back to Portland, OR.
It was announced at the weigh-in that this would be Mia St.
John's last fight, when she takes on Tammy Franks. I spoke
to Franks about the fight with Mia, and she said that she was
more than ready. She has a new team of trainers and is
looking forward to fighting St. John.
Lindsay Garbatt, was very respectful towards Melissa Hernandez,
and we did have a laugh over Garbatt entering the weigh-in
wearing a Melissa Hernandez T-shirt, where it said "I am Womym's
boxing." Hernandez also was above board with comments
about Garbatt, and she feels that this time around when they
fight she will be bringing her "A" game.

More to come after I return from the fights!
