Serrano Looks to Avenge only Blemish This Saturday Against Ela Nunez

(JAN 28) VERONA, NY—This Saturday night at the beautiful Turning Stone Casino and Resort in Verona, New York, undefeated female featherweight, Amanda Serrano will look to “avenge” her only career blemish when she takes on Ela Nunez in a six round bout.

The main event will feature a ten round heavyweight battle for the WBC Caribbean Heavyweight championship between former U.S. Olympian Jason “Big Six” Estrada and Franklin Lawrence. The fight card will be streamed all over the world LIVE on gofightlive.tv.

Serrano and Nunez fought to a toe to toe draw back on November 20, 2009 in Atlantic City.

Serrano of Brooklyn, New York has a record of 7-0-1 with four knockouts, knows the first fight was an aberration and will look to not only win but emphatically on Saturday.

“I took the first fight on short notice”, said Serrano.

“I only knew about for a week. This fight will be different as I am training much harder and there will be no surprises.”

Serrano was influenced by her sister, former two-time title challenger Cindy Serrano, who herself is 15-3-1.

“I was in the gym all day watching her. I just wanted to fight and then I won the Golden Gloves. She is my best sparring partner and she always gives me hints to help me improve.”

“I take this sport seriously and would someday want to be the face of woman’s boxing”, said the twenty-two year old Serrano.

Since the draw with Nunez, Serrano has won three in a row which includes her last bout when she scored a fourth round stoppage over Jennifer Encarncion on September 18th in the Dominican Republic.

Nunez of Jamestown, New York has a record of 9-7-1 with two knockouts.

Nunez has been in with the top woman boxers in the world such as Melissa Hernandez, Rhonda Luna, Lindsey Garbatt, Missy Fiorentino, and Kina Malpartida.

In the co-feature, Isaac Rodriguez (17-1, 13 KO’s) of West Berlin, NJ via Brazil will look to get back in the win column after his pro defeat will take on upset minded Jose Medina of Tilton, New Hampshire.

Medina steps in for Russell Jordan who was injured in training.

Medina has a record of 12-9 with five knockouts.

Medina has been in the ring with former world title challenger Elvin Ayala (9-0); Jason LeHoullier (16-0) and in his last bout he dropped an eight round unanimous decision to Gabriel Rosado on December 9th.

In a six round Welterweight bout, Martin Wright (8-0-2, 4 KO’s) of Brooklyn, NY will take on Stephen Scott (5-2) of Albany, New York.

Ibaheim King (7-5, 2 KO’s) of West Palm Beach, Florida will take on Philadelphia Latif Mundy (9-2, 4 KO’s) in a Middleweight bout scheduled for six rounds.

Also seeing action will be Super Middleweight Andy Mejias (8-0, 4 KO’s) of Utica, NY in a six round bout against Isaac Atencio (2-3, 2 KO’s) of Denver, Colorado

Derrick Evans of Utica, NY will be making his pro debut in a four round bout in a Light Heavyweight bout against Steve Tyner (1-1-1) of Albany, NY.
