A Contest of Skill and Talent
Photos and Story
by Lori Steinhorst
June 18, 2011

(JUNE 18)  There was no trash talk at the Kaliesha West (118) vs. Ava Knight (117) weigh-in. In fact there has been absolutely no trash talk between these two warriors, ever.

West and Knight are the best example of what it means to keep your business in the ring. There is a mutual respect and admiration between these two that can not be denied. They talk and laugh together, share stories and laugh some more. “Ava is 100% honest and genuine” said West. “I know we are both going to put everything we have into this, but our friendship can not be changed because we compete against each other. It’s the sport we both love. When it’s over….win or lose, our friendship won’t be tested, it will still be strong”.

Make no mistake, when that bell rings and the toe to toe action begins, both West and Knight will come out with intentions of winning this action packed duel of skill and talent. They will both pour their hearts into each and every round and the power behind the punches will be real. There will be raw aggression and a hunger to secure the championship. Only one can take the title home.

And when it’s over…they will walk away, supporting each other as friends….one will have a title belt, the other, the support of a friend….how can there be a loser in a situation like that?
