(OCT 27) Around the Internet the word
is that the following fights will take place this Friday,
Saturday nights. These are always subject to change on any card.
To begin with, tomorrow night there are two women's bouts
scheduled in Albany, New York, that will welterweight Sarah
Kuhn, 3-2-0 (1KO), against Kali Reis, 2-1-0 (1KO), in a
six-round bout. Also, on the same card, Jackie Trivilino will be
fighting Angel Gladney in a six rounder.
In Mansfield, Australia, bantamweight Julie Gaston, 6-0-0 (2KO),
will be fighting Sarah George, 1-3-1 (1KO), for some local
Australian Championship in an eight rounder.
At the PalaRockfeller, in Cagliari, Italy, Simona Galassi, of
Italy, 15-1-1 (3KO), will be fighting Nadege Szikora, 10-2-1
(4KO). They will be fighting ten rounds for the vacant IBF super
flyweight title.
The following evening (Saturday), in Balaruc les bains, France, Katrine Rinaldo, 2-0-1 (1KO), will fight in a six-round contest
against Polina Pencheva, 2-4-1. In another bout, Palina Pencheva 2-4-1 and a
Cynthia Godbillon, winless at 0-6-0, will try for a first
victory against Ivelina Ivanova, 2-7-0, in a bantamweight
four-rounder.
At the Thirst Park, in Ruimveldt, Guyana, it will be the battle
of the heavyweights when
Gwendolyn O'Neal, 17-7-1 (7KO), fights Pauline London in a
10-rounder for the vacant WIBA heavyweight title.
At the Palenque de la Feria in Colima, Mexico, there will be two
title bouts on the card, and ONE non-title fight with Maureen
Shea. First, in a very highly anticipated
bout with two superior female boxers, Arley Mucino, 14-0-1
(8KO), will take on Ava Knight, 6-1-3 (3KO). The two are
fighting for the IBF flyweight world title. In another bout, Kaliesha West will be defending her WBO title against Roxana
Virginia Baron, who on paper at least should not give West much
problems in this match. Lastly, Maureen Shea will be on
this card, fighting in a six-rounder against Mayra Martínez.
In Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, Yessica Bopp, 17-0-0 (7KO), will fight
Suzannah Warner, 9-10-1 (2KO). Warner's record is deceiving, but
still why this is a title fight with Warner not having a win
since 2009, and losing both her fights in 2010, and not fighting
in 2011, is very questionable. Bopp is fighting her for the WBO
light flyweight title---and as usual WBAN asks...Why is this a
title fight? It is not a bad match if it was a non-title
contest, but the belt---seems silly at best---when there are
much higher ranked women to box for titles.
Back in the United States, in Pharr, Texas, welterweight Holly
Lawson will be fighting a four rounder with a TBD opponent---we have no
details on who she will be facing in that undercard bout.
