(JULY 31) The ‘down side” of
boxing struck once again when confronted with the lack of
communication from Magali Rodriquez, Orion Sports was forced to
make a change to their August 3 fight card in Kanasin, Mexico.
Rodriquez , the scheduled opponent for Ana Julaton has been
replaced by Abigail “Pinguita” Ramos in a contest over 10
rounds. This is a non-title bout.
“She simply disappeared on us”, said Orion Sports President,
Allan Tremblay. “ She left us hanging a week and half before the
fight. Fortunately, we were able to secure Abigail Ramos who was
in training for another fight and jumped at the chance to fight
Ana. These things happen in boxing and you just have to deal
with them “
Ramos, brings in a record of 3 wins with 3 losses and 2Kos in
her brief career but sees this as a chance in a lifetime and
relishes the hometown support as she purses a huge upset. “ She
is not lacking in confidence” stated Tremblay “ she is coming to
win and anything can happen in this sport, just ask Amir Kahn”.
Julatons, Promoter, Orion Sports Management with their partners,
Yucatan Boxing have been staging shows in the Yucatan for a
number of years and “The Hurricane” is right at home as a
result. This will be her fourth major contest there and she
brings not only local support in the Yucatan , where she has
been nicknamed, “The Yucatan Princess” but also millions of
followers back in the Philippines where her career has an eager
following based on the exposure provided by The GMA Network.
Such will be the case on August 3, as GMA has confirmed their
intention to continue covering Julaton as she works her way back
to the World Championship.
“This is still a major fight for me”, stated Julaton. “Ramos has
nothing to lose and will bring it all on the night of August 3
and I have to be prepared accordingly”. Julaton, who yearns to
fight in the Philippines, went on to say “ a loss would derail
my long standing dream of fighting in the Philippines in front
of my own people and I simply cannot let that happen. Making
adjustments for a last minute change of opponent is a challenge
in itself but I will be ready.”
Also appearing on the card is Crusierweight Milos Pantelic,
one of Orion Sports up and coming young stars. Pantelic, a
devastating puncher with a crowd pleasing style, will be making
his third appearance in Mexico.
