Upcoming Boxing Card Featuring Ava Knight and more!
Story by Pepe Rodríguez/WBC
May 10, 2013

(MAY 10) The president of the World Boxing Council, Dr. Jose Sulaiman Chagnon, enhanced this week the strength of the current WBC light flyweight champion, Adrian “Confesor” Hernandez, who is about to make the second defense of the title against the Nicaraguan Yader Cardoza.

This card was officially announced this week by the president of Punch Sports Promotions, Sergio Cortes, who said: “This event will take place next Saturday May 11 at the Agustin Millan gym of the City of Toluca Mexico, and will be televised on “Corona Saturday’s” Channel 5 of Televisa 10:30 pm.

"Adrian Hernandez is one of the strongest WBC world champions, and this Saturday will be a tough test against Cardoza", said Sulaiman.

Hernandez, who is from Toluca, State of Mexico said: "In each of my fights I get a large number of lessons and also learn from my mistakes. We will climb into the ring to give a great show, to enjoy the fans in the arena”. And added: “I will make the maximum number of defenses in the light flyweight division before thinking of moving to flyweight”.

This meeting was also attended by the American Ava “The lady of boxing” Knight, who is the WBC Diamond and Silver flyweight champion, and Linda "Muñeca" Soto, who will be her opponent in the co-main event of the great boxing card that has been called “Arde Toluca” (Toluca burns).

Ava said she was very happy to return to fight in Mexico, and told us about the training she did in the mountains of Big Bear, California, to defend the WBC Silver flyweight world title against Linda Soto.

The weigh-in will be open to the public today  at 11:00 am in the Alameda of the City of Toluca, Mexico.
