This Weekend’s Boxing Action Worldwide in Women’s Boxing!
By Sue TL Fox
June 28, 2013

(JUNE 28)  WBAN's rundown for this weekend's action for female boxing around the world:  To begin with, in Friday action, there are two female bouts on the Club Sportivo America card, in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, flyweight Alejandra Maria de Lujan Rios, 5-3-2 (0KO), of Rosario, will be fighting Soledad del Valle Frias, 1-3-3 (0KO) in a four-round bout. In the second female bout, in a battle of the lightweights, Victoria Bustos, 8-2-0 (0KO), of Rosario, will take on Yohanna Belen Alfonso, 6-1-0, of San Luis, Argentina.

At the Coliseo Humberto "Toyota" Novoa, Maicao, Colombia, there is one female bout, and seven male bouts. Undefeated Ana Lozano, 6-0-0 (5KO), of Tachira, Venezuela, will be fighting Yessica “La Tsunami” Perez, 1-9-1 (1KO), of Barranquilla, Colombia. The two are scheduled to fight six rounds in the featherweight division.

WBAN hopes that Perez is ready to take on a battle with Lozano, as she has stopped five of her six opponents, and Perez has lost her last seven fights being stopped six times out of seven….who in the world made this matchup?

In the same night in Colombia, different venue, at the Centro Recreacional Las Vegas, Barranquilla, Colombia, there is a six-rounder on the card, featuring Glenis Varona, 0-4-1, of Colombia vs. Dayana “Tigresa” Cordero, 12-4-0 (9KO), of Barranquilla. Again, on paper, this appears to be yet, another lop-sided matchup in Colombia.

In Parana, Brazil, at the Centro de Excelência do Basquetebol, bantamweight Rosilete Dos Santos, 28-5-0 (14KO), of Parana, Brazil, will be facing Silvia Beatriz Lescano, 8-8-0 (6KO), of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, in a 10-round fight. Unknown if the fight will be a title bout.

In the United States, at the Convention Center, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Victoria “La Reina de Guerra” Cisneros, 9-14-2 (3KO), of Albuquerque, win take on Kita Watkins, 7-10-0 (1KO), of Tyler, Texas. Cisneros was originally scheduled to fight Nicole Woods but there was an opponent change to Watkins.

On to Saturday’s (June 29th) Boxing Action…..

On this night at the Resorts World Casino, in Queens, New York, Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano, 17-1-1 (12KO), of Brooklyn, New York, will be fighting Dominga Olivo, 8-7-1 (0KO), of Brooklyn, New York, in the co-main on the card. The two will be fighting six rounds.

At the Hall Omnisport de La Préalle, Herstal, in Liege, Belgium, two female bouts are on the card. Sabrina Giuliani, 11-0-0 (0KO), will be fighting Zsofia Bedo, 7-28-1 (2KO), in a six rounder; In a second female bout, Djemilla Gontauk, 2-0-0 (0KO), from Hainaut, Belgium vs. Claudia Ferenci, 7-28-5 (3KO), in a four rounder in the featherweight division.

Another venue in Belgium, at the Ninove, Oost-Vlaanderen, lightweights Elfi Philipps, 0-0-1, of Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium will fight in a six rounder against Anamarija Maras, 0-4-0, of Posušje, Bosnia And Herzegovina, Croatia. Neither Elifi or Anamarija have yet to score a win as a pro so it will be interesting to see which one gets that honor.

In Mexico, Unidad Deportiva López Mateos, Apatzingan, Michoacán de Ocampo Ibeth Zamora Silva, 17-5-0(7KO), will face Maricela Quintero, 11-3-1 (0KO). Silva is defending her WBC light flyweight title, in ten rounds. The fight will be televised on Televisa, channel 5. In another female bout, Yazmin Rivas, 27-7-0 (9KO), will fight Kimika Miyoshi, 8-5-1 (3KO), in a ten rounder for the IBF Bantamweight world title.

In Kenya, at the Municipal Stadium in Thika, bantamweight Carolyn Orenja, of Kenya, making her pro debut is scheduled to fight Asha Ngenera, of Tanzania, also making her pro debut.

On Sunday, there is one female bout taking place at the Atrium Event Center, in Atlanta, Georgia. Nicole Wood will be fighting Kim Colbert in a four rounder.

And…That is a Wrap!
