(FEB 7) Confirmation has
been received from the International Boxing Association (AIBA)
of the qualification system for Rio 2016 and also the dates of
the Olympic qualifiers.
That said, there are of course, as we previously reported, still
only 3 weights for women in Rio and thus the WBAN campaign for
equality – and our petition - will continue for as long as it
takes to achieve true equality.
For now, a reminder that nothing has changed since London 2012
which again means boxers having to either gain (or lose) a lot
of weight if they are to fit into the three Olympic weights :
Weight classes:
Number of weight classes: 13 (10 men, 3 women)
