Areti Mastrodouka Wins Three World Titles over Loli Munoz

(MAY 13)  Greek female fighter Areti Mastrodouka (9-0) sensationally captured three World Titles on Saturday (9th May) against Spanish opponent Loli Munoz (12-14-3) winning via unanimous points decision in her hometown of Athens in front of a crowd of around 2000. London based Mastrodouka, trained by Alec Wilkey at Poplar’s Lansbury ABC, came away with the WBF, WIBF and GBU belts after an exciting Super- Featherweight unification match up at Panathinaikos FC Stadium Hall where the bout was staged.

‘The Master’ Mastrodouka appeared to dominate the early exchanges of the bout by landing the cleaner shots by countering the hard working Munoz. Both fighters kept a high pace throughout which made for some good viewing for the onlooking support and it was evident that Munoz was coming to win, but it was the superior boxing skills of Mastrodouka which were apparent with some sharp jabs and straight left hands catching the eye of the judges.

At the final bell it was unmistakably Mastrodouka’s hand that was raised by referee Toni Tiberi with all 3 judges in her favour with scores of 98-94, 98-93 and 100-90. The Greek southpaw was presented with the WBF and WIBF belts to the delight of the Athens crowd to add to the World GBU title she won last time out against Hana Horakova (6-11).

As a result unbeaten 39 year-old Mastrodouka can now look at some bigger fights in the Super Featherweight division with the chance to unify more titles by pitting her wits against the best in the world.
