Why America? And why Gleasons?

(JULY 7)  This week WBAN was notified that Alejandra  "La Locomotora" Oliveras would be making her way to Gleason's Boxing Gym in New York, where she is originally from Argentina, and now living in the states.

When Oliveras was asked about why America, why Gleason's Gym? She said that she is confident that she can be a big draw in the states and that being in the same environment as Amanda and Cindy Serrano, Heather Hardy, Alicia Ashley and Ronica Jeffrey is a great way to break into America's Women's Boxing game. She also heard that New York promoter Lou DiBella is advocating that women boxing matches be televised and wants to peak his interest.

Currently, the four-times boxing champion is residing in Kearney, New Jersey, commuting an hour and a half to Brooklyn.

"My decision to train at Gleasons and to seek Dibella's interest is worth every sacrifice up to this point. I liked my first day of training and I look forward to continuing my regimen at Gleasons," added Oliveras.

Oliveras added, "I am fortunate to have as my Pro-Bono Advisor Mr. Eddie Montalvo, who has for years been a strong advocate of my sport. His reputation precedes him and I am confident that while I attend to my training that Mr. Montalvo will handle my business affairs. I truly want to reside and compete in the United States."
