Weekend Boxing Action in  Women's Boxing

(JULY 19)  This last weekend we saw some interesting female bouts featured on boxing cards worldwide.  A brief rundown on all of the boxing action, they are as follows:

Friday night:   
At the Club Comunicaciones, Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Anahi Sanchez, 129, now 14-0-0 (6KO), of Buenos Aires, won a ten-round majority decision over Tamara Nunez, 129.5, 6-7--3 (1KO), of Santa fe, Argentina. Sanchez was defending her IBF super featherweight title. Final judges scores were 95-95, 96-94, and 97-93.

In the United States, at the Twin River Event Center, Lincoln, Rhode Island, Kali "KO" Reis, now 10-5-1 (4KO), of Providence, won by an eight-round unanimous decision in the middleweight division, over Althea Saunders, 3-3-2 (0KO), of Atlantic City, New Jersey. Final judges scores were 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73.

Another USA bout, at the Kissimmee Civic Center, Kissimmee, Florida, featherweight Chasity Martin won by a four-round unanimous decision over Ivana Coleman.

In Germany, at the  Ballhaus Forum, in Munich, middleweight Christina Hammer, of Dortmund, Germany, now 19-0-0 (9KO), defeated Melinda "Angry Bird" Lazar, of Budapest, Hungary by TKO in the sixth round of a scheduled eight round bout.

In another Germany card, in Saarland, Germany, Nikki Adler,165¼, of Augsburg, Germany, successfully defended her WBC title against Elene Sikmashvili, 167½, by winning by a ninth round KO, in a scheduled ten round bout.

In Mexico,  Salon Mezzanine, Tijuana, Mexico, Tania Enriquez, 109, won a third round TKO [1:21] over Carol Madrid, 109. The bout was scheduled for eight rounds.

Another card in Mexico, at the Arena José Sulaimán, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Iranda Torres, 132 1/4, won by a fifth round TKO over Karla Hernandez, 127 3/4. The bout was scheduled for six rounds.

Saturday night:  At the Club Social y Deportivo Garín, Garín, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Macarena Ledesma, 134, won a four-round unanimous decision over Tania Pereyra, 135. Final judges scores were 40-35, 40-351/2, and 40-35.

Germany, at the Max Schmeling Halle, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin,
Ramona Kuehne, 131.5, won by a sixth round TKO over Ikram Kerwat, 132 1/4. The bout was scheduled for ten rounds.

In the United States, at the Legacy Arena, Birmingham, Alabama
Layla "Amazing" McCarter,142.5, of Nevada, won by an eight-round unanimous decision over Melissa "Huracan" Hernandez, 138.5, of Florida. Final judges scores were 8-72, 79-73, and 78-74. This was their fourth time facing each other in the ring.

Another USA bout, On the "Roar On the Shore" in Erie, PA,
Rosalina Velez won by a four-round unanimous decision over Samantha Salazar. The two fought in the 118-lb division. Rosalina said after the fight, "Thank you Ada Velez the best coach out there and thanks to everyone who showed love and support who kept cheering me on it. Thank you Mercedes Vazquez for another opportunity and for everything you do for the sport."

In Mexico, at the Polideportivo Soraya Jimenez, Los Reyes La Paz,
Anabel Ortiz, 108, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Kareli Lopez, 108. Final judges scores were 78-74, 78-74, 77-75.

And lastly, with two female bouts on the card, at the  Centro de Espectáculos del Recinto Ferial, México, Ibeth Zamora Silva, 108, won by a seventh round TKO over Keisher McLeod Wells, 106. Ibeth was defending her WBC light flyweight title. In a second female bout on the card, flyweight Sonia Osorio, won a four-rounder by points over Leticia Uribe.
