Hungary: Domsodi vs. Mezei For WBF World Title
Source/WBF Press Release
July 20,  2016

(JULY 20)  Former four-time world title-challenger Renata “The Hardcore” Domsodi from Hungary will get a fifth opportunity to become world champion, this time on home soil for the first time, when she faces Romanian Gabriella Mezei for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens World Bantamweight title on July 24 in Budapest.

In 2012 and 2013 Domsodi came up short against WBF, WBO and WIBF Super Featherweight titlist Ramona Kuehne in Germany, and in 2014 she lost to Zulina Munoz in Mexico for the WBC Super Flyweight crown and to Eva Voraberger for the WBF and WIBF Super Flyweight titles in Austria.

A former WBF International and Hungarian national champion at Bantamweight, Domsodi will now for the first time challenge for world honors at her natural weight, and despite a rather mediocre 14-10 (6) record she must be considered one of the best in the world.

Gabriella Mezei, 7-5-2 (2), is also a former world title-challenger, as she fought Stephanie Ducastel for the WBF World Featherweight title last December in France.

Mezei was a last second substitute, and did amazingly well in a very close fight before losing by sixth round retirement due to a fast-closing eye. Quite an achievement, considering the circumstances.

This time she has had more time to prepare, and at only 22 years of age she is nineteen years younger than Domsodi (41) and surely has youth on her side to make up for her disadvantage in experience. Both women are known to be aggressive, and a tough and entertaining fight is expected.

The Renata Domsodi vs. Gabriella Mezei WBF Womens World Bantamweight title fight is the main event of a show promoted by Profibox-Promotion.
