Worldwide Weekend Results for women’s boxing

(MAR 20)  This last weekend it was very busy for female boxing and is appearing to be picking up as of late. To begin the weekend’s action we had the following female bouts on Friday, March 17, 2017.

At the Sociedad General Belgrano, Cordoba, Argentina, two local female boxers from Cordoba, featherweight Cintia “La Panterita” Castillo, 124, won a six-round unanimous decision over Marta “La Matadora” Juncos, 125. Castillo remains undefeated with a 5-0-0 record, after her win against Juncos, now 5-26-4. Final judge’s scorecards were 57-60, 57-60, 56.5-60.

In another venue in Argentina at the Centro Provincial de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo (CePARD), Río Gallegos, Santa Cruz, Argentina, super featherweight Santa Cruz’s Ana Guichapani, now 2-0-0 (2KO), won by a second round TKO 1:25 over Flavia Quintero of Mendoza, Argentina. According to Boxrec Quintero’s corner threw in a towel to end the bout. The bout was scheduled for four rounds.

In the Philippines, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, in Pasay City, Metro Manila, on the undercard, featherweight Gretel de Paz won by a first round TKO over Kimberly Labajo. The bout was scheduled for four rounds.

In Zyradow, Poland, super bantamweight Paulina Raszewska, 120½, of Warsaw, Poland, who was making her pro debut won a four-round bout by a split decision over Bojana Libiszewska, 121¼, of Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland. Judges scores were 40-37, 40-36, 39-37.

In Joensuu, Finland, at the Liikuntakeskus Energy, super flyweight Lotta Loikkanen, 115, of Tampere, Finland, making her pro debut, won a four-round unanimous decision over Gyongi Acs, 115, of Bekescsaba, Hungary. All judges scorecards had the fight at 36-40.

Moving onto Saturday night, March 18th...

In Aarhus, Denmark, Dina Thorslund KO'd Gabriella Mezei in first round. EBU Jr. Featherweight title.

Polideportivo General Paz, Cordoba, Argentina, flyweight Debora Gomez won by a fourth round majority decision over Maria Laura Cano, 109¼. In a second female bout, super flyweight Evelyn Bermudez won a four-round unanimous decision over Victoria Moreyra.

Gimnasio Futbol Club, Vera, Santa Fe, Argentina, lightweight Victoria Bustos, 132, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Kimberly Connors, 131. The two were fighting for the IBF Lightweight title. Final judges scores 96-94, 99-91, and 96-94.

Salle Omnisports, Châtellerault, Vienne, France, featherweight Ericka Rousseau won a six-rounder by points over Jessica Sanchez.

Heinz Rheinhard Halle, Darmstadt, Germany, flyweight Raja Amasheh, of Karlsruhe, Germany,  won a ten-round unanimous decision over Kleopatra Tolnai, of Budapest, Hungary, for the vacant WBC flyweight silver title.  Final judges scores were 100-90.

Arena Leipzig, Leipzig, Sachsen, Germany, featherweight Sandra Atanassow won a split decision over Gabriella Buso.

ABA Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand, super lightweight Monica Tai, pro debut, won by a third round TKO over Wendy Talbot. The bout was scheduled for four rounds.

Baltiska Hallen, Malmo, Sweden, super lightweight Patricia Berghult, 137¾, won a six-round split decision over Karina Kopinska, 135¼.

Powerade Centre, Brampton, Ontario, Canada, super featherweight Sandy “Lil Tyson” Tsagouris, 129¼, won an eight rounder by unanimous decision over Carla Torres, 126. The two were fighting for the vacant WIBA Super Featherweight title.

Parque Morazon, San Jose, Costa Rica, super flyweight Carolina Arias won by a second round TKO over Abigail Ramos. The bout was scheduled for six rounds.

Eatons Hill Hotel, Eatons Hill, Queensland, Australia, April Adams won by a second round KO in a five round bout against Daorueng Pakkhetanang.


Function Centre, Melbourne Park, Victoria, Australia, bantamweight Sylvia Scharper had a 10-round majority draw with Kori Farr for the for the vacant WIBF Bantamweight title. In a second female bout, bantamweight Chemeka Johnson won a six rounder against Carol Earl.
