The 2016 U.S. Olympic Boxing Team Closes Multi-Nation Camp, Moves into The Olympic Village

(JULY 29) COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (JULY 29, 2016) - The U.S. Olympic Boxing Team has now been on the ground in Rio de Janeiro for nine days and the squad has adjusted well to their new surroundings. After arriving in Brazil on Wednesday, July 20, the team opened a joint training camp with host nation Brazil and the Irish squad at the Naval School in Rio de Janeiro. Team USA concluded the multi-nation camp on Thursday after a successful week of training and moved in to the Olympic Village this morning.  Full Story

(JULY 27) On August 13, 2016, at the Function Centre, in Melbourne Park, Australia, WBC Silver Super-Bantamweight title Champion Shannon "Shotgun" O'Connell, will be facing challenger Kimika Miyoshi, who is the current OPBF Featherweight Champ. Chavez Wins by Majority Decision; Arrazola and Lopez fight to Draw

(JULY 25) On Saturday night at the Oasis Hotel Complex, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico, Jessica Chavez, 111½, won a 10-round majority decision over Esmeralda Moreno, 111½.  Chavez was defending her WBC Flyweight title.  In a second female bout, light flyweight Ana Arrazola, had a four-round draw by points with Elizabeth Lopez.

(JULY 23) Alicia Napoleon won a unanimous decision over Kita Watkins, in a six round middleweight bout, on the top of Ronson Frank's Uprising Promotions' action packed seven fight card at the Five Star Banquet Hall in Long Island City in Queens, NY, on Friday night. Napoleon, 155, raised her record to 7-0 while the veteran Watkins, 154, dropped to 7-14.  Full Story

(JULY 12) On Saturday night, at the Sichuan Gymnasium, Chengdu, China, "Little Miss Tyson" Melissa St. Vil, of Brooklyn, New York, USA, and "la Super Baby"  Katy Wilson Castillo,  of  Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, fought in a ten-round title bout.  According to Boxrec, St. Vil was defending her WBC Silver Super Featherweight title, and a local title.   Full Story
