(MAY 31) Yesterday afternoon in Ecatepec, Mexico, the final press conference was held for the upcoming boxing event that will take place on Saturday, June 1st, at the Estadio Morelos, in Ecatepec, México.  All the boxers that will be on the card were present and there was a huge gathering for the conference.  One of the major fights on the card will feature Yesica Bopp and Kika Chavez who are fighting for the WBC Silver title.  Photos of Press Conference...Full Story with Photos

(MAY 30) WBAN has received the latest update on multi-world champion Layla McCarter, who arrived in South Africa, along with Luis Tapia, of Team McCarter.McCarter attended a radio interview on Tuesday, along with female boxers Simone Duarte, Silvia Zacarias, Unathi Myekeni, and Noni Tenge.  These boxers are set to fight on June 2, at the Orient Theater in East London, South Africa...Full Story with Photos

(MAY 29) There has been quite a stir in regards to the upcoming WBC Silver world title fight featuring Yesica "Tuti" Bopp, 24-0-0 (11KO), Buenos Aires, Argentina, current holder of the WBA/WBO light flyweight titles, who will be facing Kika Chavez, 17-3-2 (4KO) of Mexico City, Mexico, in a 10 rounder, this Saturday, June 1,  at the Estadio Morelos, Ecatepec, México. Rosilete dos Santos becomes the Emeritus WIBA Champion

(MAY 28) Rosilete Dos Santos, who has boxed professionally since 2003, with an impressive professional boxing record has made a recent difficult decision in regards to her career in the ring.  Santos who successfully defended her WIBA Super Flyweight Champion on June 28, 2012, when she defeated Maria Jose Nunez in a 10-round unanimous decision and she had first won the belt that was vacant the previous year on July 2, 2011 is set to retire from the sport.  Full Story

(MAY 27) Toronto, ON – Fighting Women: A Symposium on Women’s Boxing is a two-day event bringing together authors, academics, boxing scholars, coaches, filmmakers, and journalists who chronicle women’s boxing. A total of nineteen presenters from Canada, United States, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Finland, and Australia are taking part in the first scholarly event dedicated to examining women’s professional and amateur boxing, past and present.  The legacy of women’s boxing, including women fighting for financial gain, traces back to the first half of the 18th century.  Full Story

Adler, Zecirevic New WBF Champions

(MAY 26)  Last night the World Boxing Federation crowned two new champions as Nikki Adler won the vacant Womens World Super Middleweight title in Russia, and Enes Zecirevic captured the vacant International Super Middleweight crown in Switzerland.  In a rematch of their original 2011 encounter, won by Adler on points, the German stylist again beat Latvian Zane Brige by unanimous decision at the Olympic arena in Volgodonsk, on a show promoted by SKV Boxing. The title was recently vacated by another German, Christina Hammer. Full Story

(MAY 23) Diane Lee Fischer-Cristiano, President, Dee Lee Promotions, conducted a press conference, on Wednesday, at the Don Coqui restaurant in downtown White Plains NY, detailing the seven bout boxing card scheduled for Friday May 24 at the nearby Westchester County Center. The ten round main event matches undefeated Ronica Jeffrey and veteran Olivia Gerula for the IWBF super featherweight title. Full Story

Boxing Action in Argentina: Sabrina Perez vs. Carolina Duer

(MAY 22) This Friday, May 24th, at the Anfiteatro Verónica, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sabrina "La Muñequita" Perez, 10-0-0 (2KO), of Buenos Aires, will be facing Carolina Duer, 14-3-0 (5KO), also out of Buenos Aires,  in a ten rounder, for the vacant WBO bantamweight title bout.  In another female bout Jesica Cabrera, will fight Yessika Munoz in a four-rounder.

Gerula to fight Jeffrey

(MAY 22) On Friday at the Westchester County Center, White Plains, New York, Olivia Gerula, 13-13-2 (3KO), will fight for an "interim" IWBF super featherweight world title when she takes on Ronica Jeffrey.  Gerula has not fought since December of 2011, so hopefully the ring rust will not come into play with the fast, slick,  and undefeated boxer as the likes of Jeffrey.

McConnell Boxing Academy in Portland with Former Multi-World Champion!

(MAY 17) The Northwest now has a new boxing gym, owned and operated by former women’s WIBF and GBU World Champion, Molly McConnell. The new gym, McConnell’s Boxing Academy, is located in the heart of the Lloyd Business District in Portland, Oregon and is approaching boxing training in a different way than most boxing gyms. McConnell’s is focused on teaching, which separates it from many traditional boxing gyms. McConnell’s not only offers fitness classes for adults, but also has specific beginning boxing programs for kids and teens designed to teach boxing in a clear, well organized way. Ava Knight Wins WBC Belt over Soto

(MAY 12) Last night at the Deportivo Agustín Ramos Millan, Toluca, México, Ava "Lady of Boxing" Knight, now 12-1-3 (5KO), won a 10-round unanimous decision over Linda Soto, 5-3-0 (3KO).  The two were fighting for the WBC Silver flyweight Title.  In a second female bout, Brenda Olvera, had a four-round draw with Rocio Castillo.  Both Olvera and Castillo fight out of Mexico.

(MAY 5) Three World Boxing Federation titles got new owners on Saturday night (May 4), as Christina Hammer dethroned Zita Zatyko for the WBF Women’s World Super Middleweight crown on the big Klitschko vs. Pianeta show in Mannheim, Germany, and Gogi Knezevic and Timy Shala won Intercontinental titles in Austria. Hammer, also the current WBF World Middleweight Champion, put on a dominant performance and used her superior boxing skills to outbox her heavier opponent. In round four Hammer scored a knockdown, and only the bell saved the visibly hurt, but brave, Hungarian. ..Full Story
