Maria
Lindberg, 1-0-0 (0KO), 5'5" 152 lbs., born March 30, 1977, and from Malmö,
Sweden, began boxing in 1996. She had a 7-1-0 amateur record.
Lindberg trains out of the Winning Boxing Club (Viking PRO),
training with Bert V. Johansson, and managed by Tray Hooper.
Lindberg told WBAN, "I started boxing in 1996,
first as an amateur and now I have moved on to being a professional boxer. I
had my first pro fight in July 2003 in which I fought “Bad” Kitty Pugh and
won by a unanimous decision over four rounds. I´m now looking for further
fights anywhere in the world and I´m ready to fight anytime."
Lindberg also just finished her master of science in chemical
engineering and is now working part-time for a large energy company in
Sweden.

Sweden was the very first country to have female boxing competition
sanctioned by the National Boxing Federation. The date was 1988.
In 1994, there was a history first when they held the women's national
amateur championship! Also, according to news sources, Sweden hosted
the first Nordic Women's Boxing Championships that took place in 1996.
