Klinefelter Brings Home Gold as Two-Time U.S. Champion!

Spokane, Washington - Iowa City's Emily Klinefelter won the 2004 U.S. Women's National Boxing Championships this weekend in the 110 pound women's senior division (ages 17-35). This is the second year in a row that Klinefelter has won that title. In the semifinal, Klinefelter defeated 2003 silver medallist Anna Marandi of New York 18-4. In the final, Emily defeated current U.S. #2 ranked Keisher McLeod, also from New York, 22-1. McLeod had advanced to the final with an 16-9 victory over California's Celina Moreno.

Emily will represent the U.S. in international competition in Argentina this year.

Emily's younger sister Katy Klinefelter won the silver medal in the 125 pound junior division (ages 15-16), losing a decision in the final to California's Adelaida Ruiz.
