(AUG 3) From July 27 to July 31st, the 2004 Women's National Championships
were held in Spokane, Washington. There were over 100 women boxing
athletes who showed to compete and they all had the same ideal--- They
were going to win, but only 11 became Champions.
The 95 pound Champion Christine Kwan was unopposed this year.
The 101 pounds 2004 Champion Julia Urman made her mark in the Tournament as
someone to be watching for in the future.
The 106 pounds 2004 Champion Cheryl Houlhan was a much improved boxer from
last year making her a very exciting enjoyable competitor to watch box.
Cheryl had also won the Championship last year 2003.
The 110 pounds 2004 Champion Emily Klinefelter took the Championship home
again, showing good strong boxing.

The 119 pounds 2004 Champion Stella Nijhof experiences help her to over come
a lot of obstacles on her way to the top of her game in the play off.
The 125 pounds 2004 Champion Jennifer Han was boxing again the same opponent
Teresa O'Toole as in every year going back and forth for a top position.
These two boxers depends on who is having a good day, because both boxers
are good.
The 132 pounds 2004 Champion Caroline Barry worked very hard and showed why
she should be a Champion. She looked for her opponent who she faced every
year though the finals in National Tournament, but Naquana Smalls did not
show to this Tournament this year.
The 138 pounds 17 years old 2004 Champion Lena Taylor took the Nationals by
surprise winning the semifinals over the experienced 2002 USA Champion Angel
Bovee from New York.
The 145 pounds 2004 Champion Elizabeth Quevedo stayed calm and collective
though her competitions during the boxing tournament, winning her 2nd USA
National Championship.
The 154 pounds 2004 Champion Tiffany Junot came in with a lot of heart
taking many by surprise.
The 165 pounds 2004 Champion Allana Huggins was the Toughest and Best boxers
in the Tournament. She was looking for last year winner Laura Ramsey from
Orlando, Florida for a challenge. Laura had turn Pro in boxing this year
before the tournament.
The 176 pounds 2004 Champion Tricia Turton was her first win in a National
Tournament.
The 189 pounds 2004 Champion Tanzee Daniel came down in weigh from last year
and looked a much stronger and better shape boxer. Tanzee won the 189+ 2003
USA National Championships.
The 189 and over pounds 2004 Champion Tina Hooks boxed some of the biggest
boxers in her quest for the top position. Tina showed good defense out
scoring her opponent almost all the way.
