Toughill Gets “Tough” about Ali’s latest comments!
Open letter by Erin Toughill

(MAY 7) Laila “She-Bee Stingin” Ali says that she will move up in weight
class to 175, due to no one left in the 168 lb division.
Well...ah...Erin Toughill took exception to
those comments!
Toughill contacted WBAN with an open letter about Ali posted on WBAN! Toughill wrote, "You know - I am sick and tired of Ms. Laila thinking that's
she the best thing since sliced bread. What's funny is that she thinks she's
her daddy - but think again, honey. I keep hearing you talk about "no one to
fight @ 168" You're so big and bad! You have not even cleaned out all the
top ten! So, you are going to fight at 175 where there is even LESS, solid
competition - and then you'll call yourself "the best."
Gimme a damn break.
You must be pretty ignorant
to think that there's no one else on the planet that
can hang with you. Records mean NOTHING, doll.
So why
don't you do your little fight with Nikki; then with Ward
or Wolfe; and then with me. I might have half as many fights as you -
but I'll kick your ass just the same. So have you and your husband put your
money where your mouth is an set this fight up. If you think I'm no
competition - prove it. I'll gladly fight you. And feel free to
underestimate
me...it'll make it that much sweeter." |

Hot Scoop! Ali to defend
her IBA Title Against Eplion |
|
(MAY 6) On June 12, 2004, in Connecticut and promoted by Absoloot Boxing,
Laila Ali will be defending her IBA Super-Middleweight title! Ali
will be facing Nikki Eplion, 14-1-2 (8KO).
WBAN will have more
posted soon about this upcoming event. In a Press Release, by the Ali Team,
Ali said that she plans to relinquish her titles, and move up to 175 lbs.,
to fight the winner of the Ann Wolfe-Vonda Ward fight that will take place
on May 8th.
Ali went on to say, "There
isn’t anyone left for me at 168lbs other than Leticia Robinson who is
undefeated," said Laila. "However the fight was already offered to her and
her people turned it down. I can’t hold on to titles that I can’t defend
against real competition. So I have decided to let them go. I will move up
to 175 and fight either Vonda or Ann. It does not matter which one. The
outcome will be the same in either fight. I will win by knockout. They both
claim that they have wanted me for so long so I am sure the winner will be
happy to face me next. So whoever wins this Saturday in next in line for the
BEATDOWN. Once I am champ and have cleaned out the light heavyweight
division, I will come back down to 168 and take my titles back from whoever
has them if she is real challenge for me. If there is no one there for me, I
hang up the gloves." |
