(JAN 20) Norwegian Cecilia Brækhus has signed a contract with Sauerland, which is one of the dominant boxing stables in Germany. Contrary to their main competitor on the German Market, Universum Promotion, Wilfred Sauerland has kept a very low profile as far as female boxing is concerned, and Brækhus is the first female boxer in the stable. He still has reservations about women's boxing, and explains, that Brækhus was signed by subsidiary Team Sauerland Event Gmbh, whose CEO, Chris Meyer,  explains to BILD ZEITUNG: "With her (Cecilia Brækhus) we finally have, not only a talented, but also a coming world champion under contract."

Despite Sauerland's reluctance to include women in his boxing stables, there have been women appearing on his card in the past. The most prominent, was no doubt Laila Ali, who fought Åsa Sandell in Berlin in December 2005, but also Brækhhus has appeared on Sauerland cards during her previous management, as well as Heidi Hartmann.

Cecilia Brækhus will get the best support from Sauerland head coach Ulli Wegener, who looks forward to the opportunity to train a female prospect.

Brækhus (4-0-0) is included on next Saturday's card in Berlin, where she will be facing Wanda Pena Ozuna (4-2-0) from the Dominican Republic.
