(MAR 18) Amateur female boxers Marlen
Esparza and Sylvia Villapondo from Houston, Texas, have
just returned from the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs,
Colorado, from competing in the 2008 U.S. Nationals.
Marlen won her third in a row at the U.S. National championship by
beating Melissa Mcmorrow in a one-sided fight 26-7. Also,
Sylvia Vvillapondo won her first U.S. National championship by
defeating Samantha Guzman by points of 29-27.
Marlen and Sylvia both train out of Elite boxing gym in Houston,
Texas. They spent numerous weeks, training seven days a week to
prepare for this tournament.
Sylvia finally got an opportunity to show the nation that training
and sparring along side Esparza, a three time U.S. National champion
has really lifted her skills to another level.
