Saluting the pioneers of women's boxing
by Mary Spencer
Source: Press Release
April 6, 2012 |
(APR 6) So I read on Twitter the
other day that we're less than four months away from the 2012 London
Olympics. It's strange to be reminded. I've been doing this for over 10
years and it's always been the same. At 5 a.m., I get a wake-up call
from Charlie (my coach) and I'm at
the gym for 6:00, lacing up my shoes for some road work or lacing up the
gloves for some sparring. Either way, it's what I've gotten used to
doing six days a week. I love it. Charlie and I have trained to
make me a better boxer each and every time I perform. It started with my
first national championship in 2004 and we haven't looked back since.
Since then I've won nine Canadian titles and three world championships.
