(MAY 24) Despite the fact
that women have been involved in boxing for almost as long as
the sport has existed, female fights were illegal and outlawed
for the majority of the sport's history. Up until recent years,
athletic commissions have refused to grant licenses to female
boxers, and a lot of countries officially outlawed the sport.
However, since the 18th century, there have been reports of
women competing.
Women's boxing started becoming very popular in the 90s when
certain countries like the United States and the United Kingdom
lifted their bans on the sport. This brought about the emergence
of talented female boxers who competed professionally. Since
then, women's boxing has grown into one of the biggest female
sports in the world.
With the rise of technology, there are many ways women's boxing
has improved, with health and fitness taken into great
consideration. In the betting sphere, technology has also made
the activity more efficient, making for the availability of new
and improved features.
In the past few years, women's boxing has grown quickly,
propelled by the emergence of talented athletes who have gained
a following throughout the world. The two athletes leading the
charge have been Katie Taylor from Ireland and Claressa Shields
from the United States. Both have a history of winning Olympic
gold medals, have sizable online fan bases (over and close to 1
million combined), and have an unwavering drive to succeed.
There have equally been numerous major women's boxing events
that were graced by thousands of people. At Madison Square Garden
in New York, which was completely sold out, Katie Taylor and
Amanda Serrano engaged in a historic battle in the early months
of 2022.
A momentous day in the sport occurred on October 15, 2022, when
Claressa Shields elevated its levels by selling out London's O2
Arena for her main event match versus fierce opponent Savannah
Marshall. This took place on a roster solely dedicated to
women's boxing. This demonstrates the level of momentum women's
boxing has achieved over time.
Women's boxing has now matured in an era of growing awareness of
women's rights and gender equality. It is now ready to empower
various women and compete with its male counterpart.
Female boxers still have the responsibility of putting on a good
performance and showcasing their skills, and many of their
performances have been undoubtedly amazing. They have also
received positive feedback about the sport from people of all
genders. The women who compete have made a significant impact on
many stereotypes in a society where sexism is still pervasive.
Women's boxing has seen enormous success in large part due to
the high level of ability being displayed. Fans and supporters
are no longer mistaken about how well women can compete. In
Women's boxing, skill and technique are being focused on, as
opposed to physical abilities.
While Claressa Shields is dominating the Women's Boxing scene
with her talent and grit, she is still inspiring many young
women and paving the way for them.
