Geovana Peres goes for second Title

(AUG 16) Brazilian Born New Zealander Geovana Peres (2 - 1 - 0), will be going for her second New Zealand title on October 13th at ABA Stadium in Auckland against Trish Vaka.  Peres has accomplished so much in her career so far, including becoming the first ever person from the LGBT+ community to win a New Zealand professional title, in any gender. She has won an amateur New Zealand Golden gloves title, debut in March 2017 and won her Pro title that same year. Full Story

Anahi Sanchez Wins by KO over Maria Brito

(JULY 17)  On Friday night at the Club Comunicaciones, Pergamino, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Anahi Sanchez, 135, won by a first round KO over Maria Brito, 134.5.  Sanchez last fought in May of 2017 when she fought for a world title against Maiva Hamadouche, losing by TKO in the fourth round.  Brito's last fight took place in January 2017 when she lost to Rose Volante in a six rounder by decision.

Giebel Cruises To Beat Milenkovic In Germany

(JUNE 11)  24-year-old Leonie Giebel won the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens Eurasia Super Featherweight title on Saturday night, June 10, when she comprehensively outboxed Serbian-born Maja Milenkovic at the Porsche Zentrum in Paderborn, Germany.
This was a rematch of a 2015 encounter, which Giebel won by fifth round stoppage, and Milenkovic showed that she had greatly improved in the interim. But Giebel, the reigning German national champion, was still too much for her, and on top from start to finish.  Full Story

Boxing; IOC confirmed 2 more weights for women in 2020 Tokyo Olympics

 WBAN received a Press Release from Golden Boy Promotions, with Marlen Esparza stating the following:  "It's great to make history being the first woman in Nevada to do three-minute rounds....." (MAR 11) A new Women’s Champion was crowned last night at ABA Stadium, with Alrie Meleisea winning the New Zealand National (NZPBA Version) and UBF Asia Pacific Female Heavyweight Titles.  Alrie Meleisea took on Tongan Born Nailini Helu for the second time in their career, the first bout being on the Robert Berridge vs Adrian Taihia undercard in October.  International Boxing Association (AIBA) Press Releases are noted more for what they do NOT tell us than what they do but even so the fact that there was no formal Press Release following December’s Executive Committee meeting in Switzerland did ring ‘ alarm bells’ in several countries. Such meetings usually agree any major changes in the sport but nothing was heard until a New Year message to the faithful from AIBA President Dr Ching Kuo Wu on 9th January and even that did not mention removal of headgear.  Full Story

Debuting professionally at the tender age of 14 (February 27, 2010), Dayana "Diamante" Cordero is certainly a "Diamond in the Rough."
Cordero, born on December 18, 1995, in Caucasia, Columbia, fell in love with the sport at a very early age. By the time she was 7 or 8 years old she was already boxing with the local boys in her town. The lack of financial support in her household forced Dayana to work but boxing was her passion and at the age of 14 she turned pro defeating a much seasoned fighter in Maria Andrea Miranda.   Full Story

Women's Boxing confirmed for 2023 Canada Games in Prince Edward Island (PEI)

(JAN 10)  Great news for Canada’s boxing stars and administrators with confirmation tonight that women’s boxing will be included in the 2023 Canada Games to be held on Prince Edward Island (P.E.I).  It is the first time that women’s boxing has been included in the Winter Games and Boxing Canada has been fighting hard for its inclusion.
