Update: Jackie Nava to Fight Ana Lozano when she returns to the February 4th!

(JAN 18)  WBAN has just learned that Jackie "La Princesa Azteca" Nava, 32-4-3 (14KO), will be fighting Ana Lozano when she returns to the ring on February 4, 2017, at the Centro De Convenciones, Rosarito, Baja California.   Nava will be fighting in a ten rounder.  Nava last fought in February 2015, when she stopped Mayra Gomez in the sixth round of a ten round bout.

(JAN 17)  This last weekend, on January 14th, at the Barclay's Center, in New York, we had the privilege to have our independent WBAN World title belt on the line when Amanda Serrano fought Yazmin Rivas.  The WBAN belt can only be fought by top boxers in our ratings, and it must accompany a Federation Belt on the line in the bout.  Thus far, the WBAN Belt has been fought with most of the federations on these top-notch world title bouts.  Full Story with photos

Debuting professionally at the tender age of 14 (February 27, 2010), Dayana "Diamante" Cordero is certainly a "Diamond in the Rough."
Cordero, born on December 18, 1995, in Caucasia, Columbia, fell in love with the sport at a very early age. By the time she was 7 or 8 years old she was already boxing with the local boys in her town. The lack of financial support in her household forced Dayana to work but boxing was her passion and at the age of 14 she turned pro defeating a much seasoned fighter in Maria Andrea Miranda.   Full Story

Women's Boxing confirmed for 2023 Canada Games in Prince Edward Island (PEI)

(JAN 10)  Great news for Canada’s boxing stars and administrators with confirmation tonight that women’s boxing will be included in the 2023 Canada Games to be held on Prince Edward Island (P.E.I).  It is the first time that women’s boxing has been included in the Winter Games and Boxing Canada has been fighting hard for its inclusion. (DEC 15)  WBAN has received fight results from a December 13th Card that took place at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, where there were seven female bouts on the card, with three of them being fought for titles.  Results:  WBO Female Atomweight title 102lb -Nao Ikeyama, 101, of Kyoto, Japan, won a [0:36 seconds) six-round TKO over Ayaka MIyao, 101¼, of Chikuma, Nagano, Japan. (DEC 13)  Ireland’s Olympic champion from London 2012 Katie Taylor took another small step in her quest for a World Professional title in 2017, by defeating gallant Brazilian Viviane Obenauf on Saturday at Manchester Arena.  She gained a unanimous (60:53) points decision over the Swiss-based woman from Rio who suffered a bad cut over the eye in the process. Amateur boxing’s loss is professional boxing’s gain.  Amateur boxing, especially USA Boxing, owes a debt of gratitude to both of these athletes, for bringing their best to Team USA, for elevating everyone’s game in the amateurs, and for serving as role models for boxers for generations to come. Christina Hammer, 159½, of Dortmund, won a ten-round unanimous decision over Kali Reis, 158¼, of Providence, Rhode Island. The final judges scores were 93-98, 90-100, 93-98. Amanda Serrano to fight October 18th (SEPT 18) News received earlier today--  Amanda Serrano said on Facebook that after successfully defending her WBO Featherweight World Title two months ago that she is back this time dropping down to fight for the WBO Super Bantamweight World Title that will take place on October 18th. She said,  "I'll be fighting for my 4th division, this will tie my record with my Idol Miguel Cotto and make me the first to ever win the WBO in 3 divisions 135, 126, & 122.

(SEPT 18)  On Friday night, at the Polideportivo General Paz, in Cordoba, Argentina, Super bantamweight Cristina del Valle Pacheco, 121¼, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Marta Soledad Juncos, 122.  Final judges scores were 80-71, 80-72, and 80-72.  In a second female bout, featherweight Cintia Castillo, 122¼, won a four-round unanimous decision over Alicia Machaca, 122¼.  Final judges scores were 40-36, 40-37, and 40-36.
