Latest News on the 2025 Boxing Youth Men's and Women's High Performance Teams

(MAY 11) COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  – Team USA’s 2025 Men’s Youth High Performance roster has been announced following the conclusion of the 2025 Youth Selection Camp. The Selection Camp was hosted at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., from April 20 through May 7.

The 2025 Team USA Youth men's team consists of nine athletes in as many weight classes for the year. The nine men are led by team captain Salim Ellis-Bey (Philadelphia, Pa.), who earned his spot on the roster in the 60kg division. The Stars and Stripes’ 60 kg representative recently earned the Most Outstanding Male Youth Boxer at the 2024 USA Boxing National Championships in Richmond, Va.

Returning to the Youth team are two 2024 World Boxing U19 Championships gold medalists, Lorenzo Patricio (50 kilograms) and Joseph Awinongya (80 kilograms). Rounding out the 2025 USA Boxing Youth men’s roster are Landon John Patricio (55 kilograms), Lavant Brownlee (65 kilograms), Jose Vasquez (70 kilograms), Anthony Lona (75 kilograms), Angel Blancarte (85 kilograms), and Nnajai Wright (90+ kilograms).

Team USA will now transition its focus to the Brandenburg camp held in Colorado Springs, Colo., July 6-23. The Youth team will travel to Germany to compete in the Brandenburg Cup from July 29 through August 3.

The USA Boxing Youth team is led by National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.). Fonteneaux is assisted by Jason Hamilton (Spanaway, Wash.), Blanca Gutierrez (Pacifica, Calif.), Alex Love (Colorado Springs, Colo.), and Ronald Wright (Columbus, Ga.)

2025 USA Boxing Youth Women’s High Performance Team Announced Five boxers named to USA Boxing Youth Women’s High Performance Team

Team USA’s 2025 Youth Women's roster is finalized following the conclusion of the Youth Selection Camp. The camp was hosted at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., from April 20 through May 7.

Five women were selected after an intensive camp where participants were graded on scoring criteria conducted by the USA Boxing High Performance department.

The Stars and Stripes will be led by Joscelyn Olayo (48 kilograms), who was named team captain after earning a spot for the second year.

Joining Olayo on the team is 2024 World Boxing U19 Championships bronze medalist Laila Zakirova (51 kilograms). The 2025 Youth Women's roster also includes Alexis Tangaro (54 kilograms), Lauryn Elmore (65 kilograms) and Kayla Maria Moore (80+ kilograms).
