Promoter Alert:  World champion, Jessica Camara not completely Compensated for fight in South Korea
by Sue TL Fox
May 17, 2025

(MAY 17) WBAN was notified this week of a "Promoter Alert" in regards to  World Champion, Jessica "The Cobra" Camara of Montreal, Quebec, Canada who fought on April 27, 2024, at the Ajou University, Suwon, in South Korea, defeating Hyun Mi Choi, of Seoul, South Korea, and not being fully compensated. Camara won a close split decision with Choi, delivering Choi's first loss as a professional boxer, with Camara winning the Gold WBA Lightweight World championship.

This high-profile fight was show on Korea Boxing TV, and WBAN wrote a story on the fight after Camara defeated Choi.  Full Story

Unfortunately....let's now fast forward to what happened after the fight.....Camara talked about it on this YouTube video.

WBAN received this letter earlier  today from Split-T Boxing in regards to this Promoter Alert.  It reads as follows:

WBAN welcomes Choi's promoters to contact us by email [wban100@aol.com] about this situation.  There is zero tolerance for a boxer to not be paid their purse when they have signed and agreed to a  contract amount.

We hope that it will be resolved----it is now over a year, and there is absolutely no excuse to do this to any female boxer.
