The Olympia’s All-Women’s Card: April 5th Fight
Preview

(MAR 10) On
Sunday, April 5th, London’s Olympia hosts a female-only fight card for the first
time under Most Valuable Promotions. The event is being broadcast live on Sky
Sports, and it’s going to feature four world title bouts and a headline rivalry
that has been brewing for months.
Dubois vs.
Harper
The main event
is WBC lightweight champion Caroline Dubois (12-0-1, 5 KOs)
against Terri Harper (16-2-2, 6 KOs) in a world title
unification.
Dubois is
widely considered the “future” of the division, which has got
plenty of boxing fans eager to see her win. Harper, on the other
hand, is a three-weight world champion from Yorkshire, so her
experience might outmatch Dubois.
For a few
months now, their rivalry has been simmering. Just recently,
Dubois called Harper "Irrelevant" while Harper insists that
she’s being overlooked. Bookmakers are also favouring Dubois, so
it’s a bout that boxing fans cannot miss.
Absolutely
Stacked Undercard
Ellie Scotney
(11-0-0, 0 KOs), who was born and raised in London, is putting
her WBC, IBF, and WBO super-bantamweight titles on the line
against the no-other Meico Mayelli Flores (13-1-1, 4 KOs) for
the undisputed championship.
Irma Garcia
(25-5-0, 5 KOs) and Emma Dolan (8-0-0, 1 KO), are then going
back-to-back for 10 rounds for Garcia’s IBF junior bantamweight
title. Chantelle Camera and Michaela Kotaskova will also be a
part of the undercard, both fighting for the WBO women’s junior
middleweight title.
More fights
will be added. The full card is listed on the
ESPN Boxing page and will be updated as further bouts are
confirmed.
Why This
Night Matters
The last
all-female boxing broadcast in the UK was the Shields vs
Marshall card. This happened at the O2 in 2022. According to
Sky Sports, that event drew in over two million viewers.
Almost 40% of the at-home audience for this event was female as
well.
It was a huge
success, and we believe April 5th picks up a lot of that
momentum. With such a stacked card and MVP’s promotional
machine, we could see record-high numbers for a women-only
boxing event.

If you're
streaming from home, there are plenty of ways to engage with the
event, or women's boxing in general, from home. Social media in
particular has helped engagement with women's boxing, with
influencers in particular playing an important role in
advertising the sport to a range of new audiences.
An overall
increase in boxing engagement across all formats and genders has
been noted across social media, with the rise of influencer
based boxing events cited as a primary reason for the increased
interest. There's even now boxing themed slot games and Slingo
Bingo games available online, with famous series' like Big
Bass adopting games like Big Bass Bonus Round, showing how the
sport only continues to grow across a range of media formats.
With four
10-round title fights already on the cards, we know it’s going
to be a long event. But, with a packed all-women card, with four
title fights on the cards already, it’s certainly going to be a
night of engagement.
So many
career-defining moments will occur this night. Will Dubois live
up to her name? Will Cameron’s move to new weights be worth it?
We’re not sure. However, we cannot wait to see how this will
play out.
