WFC 191 Features Pro Boxing at ilani Cowlitz Ballroom In Ridgefield, Washington
by Sue TL Fox
May 10, 2026

(MAY 10)  RIDGEFIELD, WA – Last night, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, as World Fighting Championships (WFC) hosted a historic, capacity-crowd event at the ilani Cowlitz Ballroom. WFC 191 showcased a roster of local boxers, with one female bout on the undercard.

In  a four-round professional bout, local female boxer Whitney Gomez, won a four-round unanimous decision over Karla Valenzuela.  Gomez entered the ring with a 1-0-1 record, where as her opponent from Durango, Mexico, Valenzuela, entered the ring with a 3-40-3 (1KO), losing 34 fights before this evening's bout. Other than a predictable outcome for this matchup, there were some entertaining male bouts on the card.

The energy in the Cowlitz Ballroom was exciting, and seeing that the Northwest community turn out in such great numbers proves the desire by local folks for quality boxing events.  WBAN hopes that this  momentum continues with more professional cards in the area.

International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) Board Member, Oscar McCarver who was ringside at the event said, "the event ran very smoothly from one fight to another, and was impressed with the great sportsmanship among fighter, and although on paper the women's bout didn't seem to mesh by records, it was still a very good fight."

A key takeaway for this event is that the success of WFC 191 signals a major revival for professional boxing in Washington state, and we hope that the WFC 191 bring more to our state.
