VANCOUVER, WA — June 1, 2026 — Each year, WBAN likes
to give extraordinary credit to our amateur female boxers of the future---and for June
of 2026 it can go to non-other than Jennifer Lozano!
WBAN has officially named 2024 U.S. Olympian Jennifer Lozano as its June
2026 Fighter of the Month. The elite 51-kilogram flyweight secured WBAN's top
pick after a undefeated 7-0 performance to capture the gold medal at the recent
2026 Copa America Boxing Tournament in Girardot, Colombia.
Lozano, known as “La Traviesa” (The Troublemaker), anchored a historic showing
for the USA Boxing Elite High Performance Squad. Competing in a grueling
round-robin format that required athletes to face every competitor in the
division.
Lozano’s perfect run concluded with three straight referee-stops-contest (RSC)
victories, two unanimous decisions, a hard-fought split decision, and a final
walkover victory to secure her second international career gold medal.
Her path to winning the Gold was the following: Sara Torres (Colombia) — Won via
Referee Stops Contest (RSC) in Round 3; Claudio Cajo (Chile) — Won via RSC in
Round 2; Gina Alvarez (Colombia) — Won via RSC in Round 2; Indrid Caicedo
(Colombia) — Won via Unanimous Decision (5-0); Leidy Rivas (Colombia) — Won via
Split Decision (4-1); Luz Mirabal (Venezuela) — Won via Unanimous Decision
(5-0); Walkover Victory — Official final-round tournament advancement>
Jennifer Lozano continues to prove why she is one of the brightest stars in
amateur women's boxing. Going 7-0 on international soil against top-tier South
American talent is an absolute proof to her world-class skill, work ethic, and
fierce determination as she builds momentum toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic
Games.
Hailing from Laredo, Texas, Lozano made history as her city’s first-ever Olympic
athlete across any sport. Her dominant performance in Colombia further
establishes her position as the top-ranked flyweight in the United States.
WBAN is very proud to give this recognition to this rising star in the world of
women’s boxing and see a very bright future for her as he continues to succeed
in women’s boxing.
