CIUDAD CARIBIA, Venezuela — The professional boxing community is
raising safety concerns following a highly
controversial, heavily criticized matchup that took place at
"The Ring" in Ciudad Caribia.
Local female boxer Roxana Maria "La Guajira"
Colmenarez advanced her record to 13-8-1 (10KO) after stopping fellow
Venezuelan fighter Angie Colmenarez (with the same
last name, is this her sister or a coincidence) by a third-round
TKO in a bout originally scheduled for an
eight round bout.

Following the stoppage, the 33-year-old fighter dropped to a
winless career record of 0-19-0. In a shocking statistic that
exposes severe failures in the regional sanctioning and
matchmaking process, all 19 of her career losses have been
recorded as consecutive KOs or TKOs, spanning from her
professional debut in July 2022.
Despite possessing a 0% survival rate inside the distance and an
extensive history of stoppage defeats, Angie Colmenarez was
inexplicably sanctioned to step into an eight-round bout against
a competent boxer who has previously gone ten rounds with
elite global champions.
Fights like this gives local promoters opportunities to quickly
build a prospective fighter's win record on paper without
spending money on travel or accommodation for outside opponents.
To worsen regulatory oversight, both
fighters share identical surnames.
The bout lasted less than three rounds before the referee was
forced to intervene, handing Angie Colmenarez her 19th straight
stoppage defeat. This fight stands as a stark reminder of the
dark side of professional boxing, where the health and safety of
a winless journeyman are actively compromised for the sake of
artificial record building.
