LOS ANGELES — September 29, 2026 —Women's boxing takes center stage this Friday, Oct. 2, as the All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN) hosts its first-ever championship bout. Broadcasting live from 'Boxfest XXI' in El Paso, Texas, at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT, the special ‘Queen of the Ring’ episode is headlined a female bout competing for the vacant WBA NABA Super Flyweight Championship.  The bout is scheduled for eight rounds. 

• Melanie Timko (5-0), an undefeated 41-year-old, out of Omaha, Nebraska, faces the biggest test of her career. Having never gone past six rounds, Timko is stepping up in distance and competition to prove that age is just a number when backed by flawless ring generalship.

• Naomy “Kusa” Cardenas (10-2, 2 KOs), a 27-year-old boxer from Chihuahua, Mexico, Cardenas has fought Mizuki Hiruta in a ten-round bout, losing by a unanimous decision in 2025.

"On Friday, that mission culminates in our first title fight. These are two elite, seasoned competitors who exemplify the skill, grit, and passion of women's boxing at the highest level."

The co-featured bout features 23-year-old Ariana Carrasco (3-0, 1 KO) of Las Cruces, New Mexico. A highly decorated amateur before turning pro.   Carrasco will be fighting pro debuter Angelica “Chingona” Flores , in a four-round super welterweight battle. This is the third opponent that will step into the ring as a pro debuter against Carrasco.  She did fight a 0-5-1 boxer, on September 11, 2026 in a four-round bout that she won by a unanimous decision.

According to a press release that WBAN received, since launching its live boxing coverage in February alongside Manny Pacquiao Promotions, AWSN has become a powerhouse for the sport, delivering regular women's professional boxing to over 60 countries and reaching more than 1 billion devices worldwide.

At the venue in El Paso, Texas, there are seven male bouts on the card.
