(OCT 28) When Amanda Serrano walks into the Coliseo de Puerto Rico on January 9, 2027, it will mark the end of one of the most important careers in boxing history. Set up by Most Valuable Promotions and airing live on DAZN, her final bout against Australia’s Skye Falzon will be a defense of her unified WBA and WBO featherweight titles. But more than that, it is a victory lap for a pioneer who forced the sports world to respect women's boxing.

WBAN scored the fight 96-94 for Serrano. in this split decision.

Serrano’s legacy as a trailblazer was truly cemented by her legendary rivalry with Katie Taylor. Their monumental 2022 clash was a massive cultural moment, making history as the first women's fight to ever headline a sold-out Madison Square Garden.

That night proved women could draw massive, passionate crowds on the biggest stages in sports. Amanda didn’t stop there; she continued to break down barriers, just as Layla McCarter did in Nevada about fighting and getting 12 rounds, three minute rounds approved in Nevada many years ago.  Amanda was a proponent of females should fight 12 rounds, at three minutes per round.

[Sidenote:  WBAN/IWBHF just recently awarded Darlina Valdez of New Mexico who is the only female boxer (along with her opponent fought 15 rounds at three minutes per round in 1983!]

As a seven-weight world champion and Puerto Rico's only undisputed titleholder, two-time WBAN P4P Belt holder, Serrano enters this final camp with a clear perspective on her impact.

"Boxing has been my life, and I never could have imagined the journey it would take me and my family on," Serrano noted when reflecting on the upcoming bout. She expressed pride in fighting for respect, equal opportunities, and fair pay alongside her team.

Once the final bell rings in San Juan and she hangs up her gloves, her transition from the ring to the history books will be seamless. Because of her multi-division dominance and relentless push for athletic equality, Amanda Serrano will definitely be a candidate to be inducted into the International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame.
